Linda Klein is retiring from Hillcrest Elementary School after 44 years of teaching, 32 of them at Hillcrest.
In her honor, staff members are hosting a retirement party on Thursday, May 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Hillcrest Elementary School gym (9315 4th St. SE).
Please RSVP to Pamela_Greear@lkstevens.wednet.edu or Denise_Tapia@lkstevens.wednet.edu.
Klein graduated from Kansas State University in 1969 with a major in elementary education and a minor in children’s theater.
She taught first-grade for 11 years and kindergarten for a year in the Edmonds School District. She joined the staff at Hillcrest in 1981 and taught second-grade for 10 years. For the past 22 years, she has taught first-grade (her favorite). In total, she’s taught for 32 years in room 6—the “Pink Room.”
“I still love teaching and I enjoy the kids tremendously,” said Klein. “I still get excited every day with the opportunity to help my students learn and grow, but it is time to close that chapter. I’m looking forward to travelling and spending “Nana” time with my grandkids. It has been a wonderful ride—I thank you all.”
