LSSD and Li’l Hungry Hearts summer food programs continuing

May 28, 2013

The Lake Stevens School District is continuing its Summer Food Program at Hillcrest Elementary.

They will be serving lunches promptly at noon until 12:30 p.m. to all kids aged 1-18 years old Mondays through Fridays.

Services start on Monday, June 17 until approximately August 16.

Li’l Hungry Hearts would like to continue their weekend services by working in cooperation with the School District during the summer months.

Each Friday, LHH will be setting up a table to offer supplemental sacks of food to kids in need, fresh veggies from Mt. Pilchuck’s garden, and free books donated from Half-Price Books to encourage them to read during the summer months.

LHH would like to invite supporters to volunteer this summer to ensure that children do not go hungry during the summer months.

They would like to have at least two volunteers each day to help from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. with greeting children and their families, cleaning tables, crowd control, bathroom escorts, and ensuring that families adhere to the Summer Food Program Rules and Guidelines.

They also need assistance with cross guarding children at major intersections nearby.

Please help by filling in the volunteer spots available at the following link.

Please make sure to include a contact number and sign up for as many days as you would like. Also, please remember to fill in your contact information on the Tab labeled “Volunteers”.
