Teen shot and killed in a drive-by shooting

June 4, 2013

It seems that city life has come to the Lake Stevens community and not for the good after Lake Stevens Police responded to a 911 call stating that a young girl had been shot.

“We are investigating the homicide of a teenage female in the area of Davies Road and South Lake Stevens Road,” Interim Police Chief Dan Lorentzen said.

On Saturday, June 1 at approximately 11:30 p.m. 15-year-old Molly Conley, a freshman and honor roll student at Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle was shot and killed in an apparent drive-by shooting near South Lake Stevens Rd. and South Davies Rd.

Conley was walking with several of her friends when a dark SUV drove by them shooting a gun. Conley was hit in the neck.

Lake Stevens Police stated that there were several other 911 calls that evening reporting gunshots throughout the county.

“While detectives investigate the incident, they are also looking into numerous other possible drive by shootings that came into the 911 center throughout the region. These additional shootings appear to only have resulted in property damage,” LSPD said in a statement. “It is not clear at this time if the additional calls are related but detectives are continuing to investigate those calls.”

LSPD was working with the Major Crimes Unit of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office but the investigation has been given the the Unit to complete.

“The investigation of last Saturday’s drive-by shooting to the Major Crimes Unit of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office,” Shari Ireton, spokesperson for Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

Tips from the public or information about the incident should be directed to the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 425-388-3845.
