Rotary Club says goodbye to Vern Foster

Dear Editor,

A former member and Past President of our club, Vern Foster, passed away Friday at 3 p.m. Vern was just brought home from the hospital on Wednesday in the Hospice care program.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Donna and his children. Vern will be missed by many of us.

Besides prayers, the family may need financial support to help with mounting medical bills.

Car wash patrons helped local boy get new van

Dear Editor,

We were amazed at the great turnout and support at Jonah’s benefit carwash Saturday, June 29 at Les Schwab in Lake Stevens!

So many donated generously and were interested in Jonah’s story and sharing their own.

Thank you Les Schwab for letting us hold the carwash there. Thanks to all the volunteers who organized the event, washed cars, waved signs and sold goodies in spite of the heat!

Thank you everybody who stopped by, donated, had your vehicle washed, bought food and drink and helped Jonah get his ride. ( )

One family who stopped by even held a mini-fundraiser of their own at a park and brought back the proceeds! Wow!

The carwash brought in $1,295 to add to Jonah’s wheelchair van fund.

Bee removal does great job

Dear Editor,

We had a large hornets nest by our front door.

I talked to my neighbors as to the best and safest way to get rid of them and they all said, ‘go to the Lake Stevens Journal and look for the ad for free removal.’ So I did.

I made the call, Doug Cheney came out and vacuumed up the hornets and removed the nest. What a nice person.

No chemicals and he doesn’t kill them. I am enclosing a few pictures of what he did.
