Getchell Road culvert project wraps up two weeks ahead of schedule
Bridge work will continue until early August
Drivers currently navigating around two construction zones at opposite ends of Getchell Road, near Lake Stevens, got a pleasant surprise this morning, July 18. Snohomish County Public Works crews wrapped up work on a culvert replacement project late Wednesday night, July 17, nearly two full weeks ahead of schedule.
Crews began repaving the road Wednesday, near 105th Avenue NE and opened the road with temporary striping and signs in place that night. Work to replace the culvert began July 8.
“Our Road Maintenance crews took advantage of the great weather and worked their tails off to get this project done ahead of schedule,” said Snohomish County Public Works Deputy Director Owen Carter. “We know it was tough for drivers to deal with two detours, and we appreciate the patience they’ve shown in the past couple weeks.”
Though one detour will be gone, farther east on Getchell Road, the Little Pilchuck Creek bridge will remain closed as crews continue work to replace the damaged bridge deck. Drivers are using a signed detour to bypass construction. Work is expected to wrap up by Monday, Aug. 5.
