Ironman coming to town

The eighth Annual Ironman 70.3 Lake Stevens Triathlon will take place on Sunday, July 21 beginning at 6:30 a.m. as the first swimmers enter the northeast corner of the lake in Lake Stevens.

From Lake Stevens the athletes will begin their 56 mile bicycle ride by heading east and north to Granite Falls, then south on Menzel Lake Road, and along the east side of Lake Roesiger to Woods Creek Road. They will continue south and west along Woods Creek Road to Ingraham Road. From Ingraham they’ll weave their way north and back to the northeast corner of Lake Stevens.

While all county and city roads along the course will be open to the public, drivers may experience slowdowns in some areas. Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies and local police, as well as event staff, will be stationed at key points along the route to maintain the flow of traffic and to guide the athletes.

The bicycle portion of the race will be finished close to 1:00 p.m., however some cyclists and the volunteer cleanup crew may be somewhere along the race course until 4 p.m. For more information, and to view the course map, visit the web page.
