Jaramillo shares excerpts from book, community shares memories

Dear Editor,

Kudos to the Lake Stevens Historical Society! The group hosted Luis Jaramillo, author of “The Doctor’s Wife” at their annual meeting on June 25. Luis read excerpts from his book, followed by a lively question and answer time.

Both long-time and newer residents shared their memories of the family and Lake Stevens history.

Jaramillo is the grandson of Dr. Robert Hagen and Doris (Dorie) Hagen. “The Doctor’s Wife” relates the story of the Hagens as they raised their children in Lake Stevens, including Luis’s mother, Ann and his aunt Petrea who were both present that evening.

A special thanks to Loydeen Chapman and Nancy Mitchell, long-time friends of the family, for making this event happen.

Also thanks to the Lake Stevens School District for providing the meeting space. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our great community and some of the people who helped make it so.
