Lake Stevens celebrates National Night Out
On Tuesday, August 6, Lake Stevens joined communities all around the nation and celebrated the annual National Night Out Against Crime event.
The Family Center hosted this popular event in downtown Lake Stevens at North Cove Park.
The streets were packed with residents and lined with booths from local businesses and community organizations.
The Lake Stevens Police Department and Fire Department went head to head in some unconventional challenges, like riding bikes adorned with pink baskets, through an obstacle course.
Local kids got to see inside a real fire truck, get their faces painted and everyone enjoyed hot dogs grilled up by the Lake Stevens Kiwanis Club, donated by Hawkeyes.
“My daughter loved the fire truck, I think she would of stayed in there all night if I let her,” Lake Stevens visitor Brittney Christianni said about her four-year -old daughter Zoei. “This is a fun thing for a town, I wish we had one back home.”
National Night Out is a free event held in over 11,000 communities across all 50 states. The event aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and community partnership.
