Providence General Foundation names new Chief Development Officer

Carolyn Black has been named the new Chief Development Officer (CDO) for Providence General Foundation and Providence Regional Medical Center. Carolyn is joining Providence after serving the University of Washington for more than 11 years as the Director of Advancement for the College of Arts and Sciences. There she led a team that secured more than $77 million in private support as part of the university’s $2.68 billion campaign. In addition, she increased total annual giving from $1.3 million to $12 million during the campaign.

Black is an accomplished senior development professional who, prior to her service at UW, served in senior level development positions at the American Lung Association of Washington, Bastyr University, the Seattle Symphony and Pacific NW Ballet. She is also a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

Carolyn started her new position at Providence General Foundation on September 23 and is replacing Randy Petty who is retiring after serving as CDO since 2006.
