Family Center has help for those in need of mandated healthcare applications
The Lake Stevens Family Center will be holding a Healthcare application event on Thursday, November 14, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at their Granite Falls location at 9420 Portage Ave.
The event will cover health care application assistance and Bank On products and services.
There are limited number of spaces available on November 14 and spots will be filled by appointment only.
The Family Center knows that there are uncertainties and anxieties around the processes, application, fines for not applying and other complex pieces surrounding the Healthcare Act, which is why the Family Center has chosen to hold this important event.
The Family Center has staff who are trained and certified by Washington State Health Care Benefit Exchange and are at the ready to help people in both Granite Falls and Lake Stevens communities through the process.
The centers are also members of the Snohomish County Financial Educators Network and connected in with institutions that are members of the Bank On initiative for unbanked populations.
According to Kathleen Friend, Director of the Family Centers, “It is highly recommended through the Healthcare initiative that health benefit recipients have a bank account that can accommodate automatic payment of premiums. This causes some obstacles for people/families that do not qualify for conventional banking services. We have community partners who can remove that obstacle.”
Depending on the response, the Family Center may hold more events like this in coming months.
