Local girls receive black belt
On Saturday, Oct. 19, five 5th grade girls from Lake Stevens received a black belt after three years of hard practice and contribution at Yong-In Taigon Tae Kwondo.
The girls practiced three to four days a week and had to pass three days of black belt testing along with boys and older groups.
The testing included a Korean terminology test, a physical test which included 50 sit-ups, 65 push ups and a three mile run.
The final test took three hours and included forms, self-defense, sparing and board breaking.
