Thank you Lake Stevens!
On December 7, Lake Stevens Firefighters held their 10th annual fundraiser called Tips for Firefighters at Ixtapa Restaurant.
For the past ten years, Francisco and his staff have allowed Lake Stevens Firefighters to disrupt his restaurant for a worthy cause. Call him crazy, we call him generous, but either way he is a friend of Lake Stevens Fire and the community of Lake Stevens. This year I am proud to say no dishes were broken and no food or drinks were spilled on our gracious customers.
That evening the great community of Lake Stevens came out and supported our community's kids. Thanks to this exceptional community, the Lake Stevens Firefighters raised $3,300 in "tips". This was $900 more than last year. The Lake Stevens Firefighter Association gave $2,000 toward this cause, double their normal contribution.
With the support of the community and the Lake Stevens Firefighter Association, 53 kids in our community will have a great Christmas and one I hope they will always remember. I will never be able to put into words what a generous and special community Lake Stevens is!
I can't thank Ixtapa restaurant and their staff enough for allowing us into their place of business. I also can't thank Francisco enough for his generous donation and for feeding our crew after a long evening. Francisco and his family are very special to our community and department!
I would also like to thank the men and women of Lake Stevens Fire.
Thank you to those who came in on their off time to work in the restaurant, and those who were on duty and greeted customers outside in between responding to emergencies. Without you all, this would not have been such a great success!
There are still kids in our community who need your help. Christmas is all about the kids and that's what makes Christmas so special. If you would like to help out, contact the Lake Stevens Family Center or one of our other local service organizations.
As a community of caring citizens, the community of greater Lake Stevens is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise our children. Thank you all so very much!
