Dickens Fair brings together community, raises food and money for local families

Hundreds of shoppers attended Lake Stevens School District's 27th annual Dickens Fair at Cavelero Mid High School on Saturday, Dec. 7. More than 90 vendors sold handcrafted items, while student performers sang, danced and played instruments on stage.

At the door, shoppers were greeted by members of the Lake Stevens Fire Department who collected food and monetary donations for the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank. Once again, our community was extremely generous, by donating 1,160 pounds of canned and non-perishable food items and $673.42.

Several groups helped to make the event successful-the Lake Stevens Police Department; the Lake Stevens Fire Department; district music directors and their students; numerous student volunteers from Cavelero and Lake Stevens High School; and the district staff members who organized the event.

Mark your calendar for next year's fair-Saturday, Dec. 6. Vendor applications will be posted to the "Community" page of the district website beginning Monday, Aug. 18.

Thank you for once again making this an amazing event for our community.
