Lake Stevens wrestlers place at Doc Buchanan tournament

Junior Cody Vigoren won the 195 pound championship at the 37th annual Doc Buchanan Wrestling tournament held on Friday and Saturday, January 3 and 4 in Clovis, Calif.

Vigoren, ranked number one at 195 pounds in Washington and faced senior Dylan Bollinger of Sultana High School, Calif. in the Finals. Vigoren made short work of it by recording a fall in 1:01.

Vigoren had a very impressive tournament defeating four of the top 195 pound wrestlers from California in winning the 195 pound title.

 The Doc Buchanan tournament is considered the toughest tournament on the West Coast comprised of 96 teams from five states.

Lake Stevens placed 15th as a team and at the start of the weight class finals was presented with the Tournament team award: "Pursing Victory with Honor Award".

Senior Logan Johnson Wrestling at 160 pounds placed 8th.

Lake Stevens wrestlers return home for a Dual vs. Oregon Wrestling Powerhouse Roseburg on Saturday, January 11 at 7 p.m. LSHS.
