Local Lego team wins top honor at competition

The boys on Granite Falls' own Lego team, Cognitive Corruption made it to their first competition in Edmonds on Sunday, January 19 and came home with a couple of awards.

The boys won the top award in Innovation and Strategy in the Robot Design category.

They also took home a fourth place trophy in the Timed Robot Competition with their robot Thotbot.

They went home as second place winners overall out of 45 teams competing.

"One of the judges approached our team leader and coach, Dan, at the end and told him that the team had actually tied for first. They must have decided the champion team based upon some kind of tie breaker," mom Tija Schmiesing said. "The boys worked very diligently for this, it is well deserved."

Because of their hard work they should be qualified to move on to the next level of competition.

"After a short break, they will be back at it again to prepare for the Regional competition, which is in Mill Creek on February 9," Schmiesing said.
