New police chief takes the helm at Granite Falls

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. David Bowman will be the police chief of Granite Falls, effective January 13, 2014.

“This is a great opportunity,” said Sgt. Bowman, “Granite Falls is one of the areas I’ve enjoyed working the most.  It’s a good community.”

Sgt. Bowman was appointed to the position of police chief prior to the start of the Sheriff’s Office police services contract with the city of Granite Falls, which is anticipated to start March 1.

Sgt. Bowman has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2000, most recently serving as a patrol supervisor with Snohomish PD through that city’s contract for police services.  He has worked in a variety of roles with the Sheriff’s Office during his tenure, including as a divemaster, field training officer and precinct administrative sergeant.

A graduate of Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Sgt. Bowman lives with his wife of 20 years and their children in the Skagit Valley.
