The Wesco 4A District 1 swim and dive meet finals were held on Saturday, February 15 at Kamiak High School pool.
The Vikings had 21 swim/divers qualify for the meet, with 19 athletes returning for finals. Lake took second place with 475.5 points behind Kamiak and well ahead of third place Jackson.
Lake had five swimmers/divers qualify for the state meet.
Jeffrey Lozensky took second place in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. Chase Reid took first place in the dive event with 409.10 points and took third place in the 100 backstroke. William Summers took second place in the 100 butterfly.
The 200 medley relay consisting of Reid, Lozensky, Summers and Nathaniel Goldor took third place as did the 400 freestyle relay made up of Reid, Goldor, Chris Petershagen and Lozensky. This relay also took third place advancing them to the state meet.
The Vikings came into the season with a lot of changes, including a new head Coach, Sarah Summers, and a new dive coach, Tonya Brown. Amidst, these major changes, the Vikings were Wesco North Champions and only lost one meet during the season to Kamiak (Wesco South Champs.)
The state meet took place Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
