Oso landslide update as of Monday, March 24, 9:40 a.m.

The number of names of those who may be unaccounted for that has been collected by emergency responders is now at 108 following Saturday's landslide near Oso. The number of dead is still confirmed at eight. The number of land parcels possibly affected by the slide is at least 112 of which at least 49 had some form of structure, which could include homes.

The North Fork of the Stillaguamish River is continuing to back up and it is confirmed that at least seven homes are now flooded and more flooding is expected. Water from the river is trickling through the slide and the creation of a new river channel has been observed. Crews have been posted at five downstream bridges to watch the river for debris.

We are not releasing the names or information about those who are believed to be missing, as well as those who are deceased.

For families and friends of potential victims or those unaccounted for:

If you have not reported in on loved ones, please call the Department of Emergency Management number at 425-388-5088 with as much information as possible. Even if you were not in the area but there might be a possibility that friends and family may believe you were in the area for whatever reason, please call this number also to confirm that you are okay.

For those in Darrington:

Information on the missing and/or unaccounted for will be gathered at the Darrington Community Center and that information will be relayed to the DEM call center. Telecommunication issues are still being addressed for the Darrington area and significant resources have been requested and are being deployed to the area.
