Herbert "Bud" Schwarzmiller: March of 1923 - March 25, 2014

Herbert "Bud" Schwarzmiller died March 25, 2014 in Everett.

Bud was born on the Schwarzmiller Farm in Lake Stevens, Washingtion in March of 1923. He attended Lake Stevens High School, graduating in 1941. Then, like his brothers and friends, he enlisted in the Army to serve his country.

In 1948 he met Eileen Gleason, and they had 64 wonderful years of marriage together. He encountered many physical challenges in his later years, but it rarely slowed him down from doing the things he loved. He never complained.

Bud loved to camp and fish and took his family on many adventurous trips throughout the Northwest, Canada and Alaska often times with the Smith or Gleason families. He loved to see what was around the next corner and inspired his family to do the same.

Bud worked for many years for All West Breeders and then the Lake Stevens School District from which he retired in 1981. After retirement, he and Eileen spent many wonderful years at their home on the beach at Camano Island.

He was a hard worker, a good dad, a good neighbor, and a good citizen. He was one of the Seattle Mariner's biggest fans.

Bud was preceded in death by Eileen in October of 2013; parents Otto and Frieda Schwarzmiller and brother Tuver. He is survived by his brother David (Connie); brothers in law Tom and Jack Gleason (Mary); sisters in law Evelyn Schwarzmiller and Patricia Smith: daughters Sharri Sandnes (Don); Kim Johnson (Richard); and sons Dale (Sally) and Lee (Rachael) along with his grandchildren Walker (Alyssa), Tristan, Cory, Nick, Blu, Caleb and Sadierose along with many nieces and nephews.

Sincere thanks to Dr. Taswin and the staff at Providence Hospital in Everett for their professionalism, kindness and compassion. Also many thanks to Kim and Richard Johnson for providing home care for Bud the last several months of his life with able help from the rest of his family.

Remembrances can be made in Bud's name to the Lake Stevens Fire Department, 1825 S. Lake Stevens Rd. Lake Stevens, Wa. 98258.
