Member-only preview: Apr. 30, 2014, 1:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Grand opening presented by Chevron: May 3, 2014

Come spot the newest dotted denizens of Woodland Park Zoo! A pair of cheetahs has high-tailed it to the zoo for their big debut this May, including a sneak peek for members on April 30.

The cheetah duo, Missy and Liz, can be found in the newly redesigned Wildlife Survival Zone, where the spotlight also shines on other endangered animals the zoo is working to save through breeding, research and field work, including red pandas and cranes.

Animal News

Grizzlies enjoyed a snowy birthday treat

Grizzly brothers Keema and Denali slept through their real birthday in January, but awoke to a belated 20th birthday treat one morning last week—snow delivered fresh from the Cascades!

Thanks to Crystal Mountain Resort, the bears enjoyed rolling around in their snow piles, and digging in to find their favorite treats, from knuckle bones and fish, to peanut butter and marshmallow fluff.

Summer Camp

Zoo University (Zoo U)

In this popular summer camp, 10 to 14 year olds study more advanced subjects while playing topic-based games and making new friends at the zoo. Two themes this summer offer new explorations:

Natural History – Junior naturalists unite! Focus on the natural history of zoo animals and how this knowledge impacts how keepers care for the animals under their charge.

Blood and Guts – Jump into the world of animal anatomy by studying body parts and systems of mammals, birds and reptiles.
