Washington State University Snohomish County Extension celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act, passed in 1914, which established a state-by-state national network of educators who extend university-based knowledge to the people.. Snohomish County Extension conducts countless local programs, including Master Gardeners, Beach Watchers, and 4-H that strive to enhance citizenship, support economic development, and maintain the environment.

. As the front door to the University, WSU Extension programs build capacity and empower communities to find solutions for local issues and to improve their quality of life. WSU Snohomish County Extension partners with the county and other organizations throughout the community to engage people and communities. This outreach is critical in order to advance knowledge, economic well-being and quality of life by fostering inquiry, learning, and the application of research.
