Karate NW Takes home Five Medals at US Open

Several members of the local Karate NW recently attended the Karate US Open in Las Vegas, Neveda. This years competition hosted 53 countries and over 2000 competitors. Karate NW took four of their athletes and returned with five medals. Aleen Mills won gold in the adult females advanced kata (forms) division. Aleen is a 3 times USA Karate National team member as well as a Pan American silver medalist in 2010.

Marina Hrycenko won 2 golds in the 12-13 year old female advanced kata as well as a silver and bronze in kumiite (sparring).

Theo Pardike took fourth in kumite in the male 16 -17 year old advanced kumite division and took the current Pan American champion from the Dominican Republic to a 0 - 0 tie in a   very exciting match.

Brandie Robinson, in her first trip to the US Open, took golds in both kata and kumiite in the adult female novice division.
