Village Theatre Announces Summer KIDSTAGE Performances in Everett

The KIDSTAGE Summer Independent production in Everett is Footloose running July 18-27 at Village Theatre’s Second Stage. With a cast, orchestra and creative team structured just like Children of Eden, Footloose is directed by Lena Pulve, has music direction is by Peyton Jorgenson, and is choreographed by Rachel Cutforth. This electric musical takes place in a small middle-American town where dance is forbidden. Based on the hit film, Footloose tells of a free-spirited rebellious teen who defies local law so he and his friends can have a rock n’ roll prom; Together they try to convince a local minister that it’s no sin to be young. With its Tony and Academy Award nominated Top 40 score, including the hits “Holding Out For A Hero,” “Almost Paradise,” and the title song “Footloose,” this rock musical reminds us that sometimes you just “gotta cut loose.”

Village Theatre Everett continues their KIDSTAGE Troupe program that provides free outdoor performances at the Wetmore Theatre Plaza just outside the Everett Performing Arts Center. Everett’s KIDSTAGE SummerStock production is Anything Goes, running August 10-19 at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Under the direction of Village Theatre professionals (Jessica Low, Katy Tabb, Michael Nutting), a large cast climbs aboard the S.S.  KIDSTAGE is uniquely designed to use theatre to build critical life skills in each participant. In KIDSTAGE classes and rehearsals, our techniques encourage creativity, collaboration, problem solving, concentration, public speaking, and a strong work ethic. While some students are on a path to Broadway, all students are improving their futures and increasing self-confidence through involvement in KIDSTAGE, Village Theatre Institute, and our Teen Apprenticeship Program.

Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE in Everett is housed at the Second Stage and Youth Education Center across from the Everett Performing Arts Center.
