National Night Out Hosts Competition Between Local Chiefs

From Left to Right: Newly appointed L.S. Police Chief Lorentzen and L.S. Fire Chief Lingenfelter

National Night Out is a free event hosted by the LS Family Center annually with a focus on neighborhood safety and crime prevention. This event provides a great opportunity to connect with the community. Both Lake Stevens Fire and Lake Stevens Police look forward to participating each year, especially with the friendly competition between the Fire Chief and Police Chief.

This year's competition involved water balloons and both Chief Lingenfelter and Chief Lorentzen were great sports. Whether it was tossing them one at a time, two at a time, or trying to catch them blindfolded; it was great fun to watch the Chiefs get splashed! This year Lake Stevens Police won the competition.

The goal of this annual competition is to have some fun, and remind our community that our Fire Chief and Police Chief are approachable and they welcome communication from the community.

Both Lake Stevens Fire and Lake Stevens Police had booths on Main Street. Lake Stevens Fire connected with families on fire safety tips and Lake Stevens Police offered free childrens' ID cards. Emergency vehicles were also available to tour, with firefighters and officers readily available to answer your quesitons, calls permitting.

National Night Out occurs the first Tuesday of August each year, and we hope you'll make plans to attend next year!
