It was just three months ago that the Lake Stevens Journal reported that Karate NW  of Lake Stevens brought home five  Gold medals from the Karate US Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In July Aleen Mills, Marina Hrycenko and Theo Pardike each brought home more Gold medals after competing in the US Karate National Championships and Team Trials that were held in Reno, Nevada.

Aleen Mills took two golds in adult black belt kata (forms) divisions and bronze in adult black belt kumite (sparring).  Marina Hrycenko took gold and silver in 12-13 year old advanced kumite.   Theo Pardike placed gold in 16-17 advanced kata and bronze in 16-17 advanced kumite.

All three athletes claimed spots on the USA karate Jr. National Team again.  For Mills this is her 5th year as a USA Karate Team member.   It is the second year for Paedike and Hrycenko.

Instructor and owner Casey Mills said the next big competition is the Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru from August 25 - 31.
