Lake Stevens Journal - Your hometown newspaper since 1960
My name is Kiana Murkerson and I’m a junior at Lake Stevens High School and 2013 Miss Aquafest.
As an Aquafest title holder over the years, I have taken part in many community events including National Night Out Against Crime, Health and Safety Fair, Dickens Fair, Lake Stevens Downtown Halloween, parades throughout Snohomish County, and much more.
I not only have the honor of representing Aquafest , but also the Lake Stevens community and Snohomish County.
Along with my title I have been given an array of opportunities that have opened me up to a wide range of community service.
As Queen this past year, I have accumulated 233 hours of service and was awarded a silver in the Presidential community service awards.
My service includes volunteering as a Younglives nanny, group leading for summer church camps, working on crew for LSHS stage productions and the list goes on.
Overall the Miss Aquafest pageant has impacted me in a numerous amount of ways and I am very thankful for it.
I encourage every young girl to participate in the upcoming 2014 Lake Stevens Miss Aquafest pageant in June. It’s a fun way to be who you are and represent the community that you live in. It will be an unforgettable experience.
Registration is currently open to girls 4-18, and information is online at www. aquafest.org.
