Fighting cancer through donations gathered from Lake Stevens “Relay for Life” event.
The Lake Stevens Relay for Life Committee, alongside local businesses and relay team members will Paint the Town Purple on Saturday, May 17.
This festive day of fun falls exactly two weeks prior to the 2014 Relay for Life event, which is also National Armed Forces Day. This is a chance for teams to host fundraising booths, register team members, and show their support for cancer survivors, caregivers, friends and family.

Businesses around Lake Stevens are encouraged to decorate their store fronts in purple, in homage to the color the American Cancer Society uses to recognize the survivors who are still fighting cancer and those who have finished their fight.
The day will begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by Kiwanis at the Mitchell Community Center (next to City Hall) which will start at 7 a.m.
A team fundraising village will be set up downtown in the courtyard next to Rainy Days Caffe at 9 a.m. with booths where participants will be selling various items.
At 11 a.m. a fly-over celebrating Armed Forces Day will be observed.
Finally, if your vehicle needs some cleaning, you can head to the Wells Fargo Bank Car Wash.
All proceeds from the fundraising village booths and the Kiwanis pancake breakfast will go towards fighting cancer through American Cancer Societies Relay for Life.
