1st Annual Lazy Daze of Summer Shop Hop. August 8th- – 10th Friday & Saturday 9am – 8pm, Sunday 10am – 5pm. Each shop has selected two fabrics from the “A Quilter’s Garden” collection by Fresh Water Designs. A small sampling of the collection is pictured on the left. When you visit each shop you will receive a pattern for a 9-inch finished block and two fabrics from the collection pictured at the left. Some shops will also offer finishing kits for the block, and/or for a finished project, which uses blocks from each of the five shops. The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, now in its eighth year, helps keep beaches, rivers and lakes across America “barefoot friendly.” In 2014, Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation, along with community volunteers, are embarking on a tour of 15 cleanups nationwide, stopping in Juanita Beach Park, Kirkland, WA. Following the cleanup, volunteers 21+ are invited to attend a Surfrider-hosted celebration featuring Barefoot Wine and surf-inspired fare. Barefoot Wine Surfrider Foundation Seattle Chapter, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches. SNOHOMISH GARDEN TOUR The Snohomish Garden Club will present its 30th Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from noon until 5:00 p.m. The featured urban and suburban gardens, many of which have never been open to the public before, will be located in and around historic Snohomish. Besides enjoying an afternoon of pleasant wandering through gardens, tour-goers can count on coming away with lots of good ideas and inspiration for their own gardens. The ticket price is $12 and advanced tickets, after July 1st, will be available at several Snohomish locations: Annie’s on First; Joyworks; Blanc & Rouge; McAuliffe’s Valley Nursery and McDaniel’s Do It Center. Other sites for ticket purchase are: Machias Nursery (Machias); Molbacks Home and Garden (Woodinville) and Sunnyside Nursery (Marysville). Tickets may also be purchased through the website, http://www.snohomishgardenclub.com or day of tour tickets will be available at the above commercial outlets as well as at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 4th Street, starting at 10:30. Children under 13 may take the tour free of charge. There will also be sales of plants, raffle tickets and the event poster at the Snohomish Senior Center. Proceeds from the annual Snohomish Garden Club Tour are used to fund community projects including grants, scholarships and the hanging flower baskets in downtown Snohomish. VOLUNTEER

CCI Greenheart is looking for loving families to host 13-14 year old female students from Okinawa, Japan July 25- August 22. Stipend is $50 per week. These students will be attending a program during the weekdays from 9am-5pm in Lake Stevens. Students have their own spending money and medical insurance. Hosting international students is a wonderful cultural opportunity for your family. High School students who host receive 100 community service hours.
