L.S. Rowing Club rowers attend USRowing National Championships

Four varsity women and two varsity men qualified to attend the USRowing Youth National Championships, June 8-10 at Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. and two varsity men attended Juniors National Development Camp in Seattle.

The varsity women’s quad attending Nationals were Ashley Gilmore, Karoline Brody, Emily Moseley and Sara Brady.

The varsity men’s double were brothers Michael and Nicholas Johnston.

Lake Stevens Rowing Club President, Bob Cummins said, “Our varsity rowers continue to inspire our younger Juniors and Novice rowers with their dedication and commitment to the sport.” He added, “Their successes at regional regattas and participation at USRowing nationals continue beyond our expectations with every year garnering more accolades for our club here on Lake Stevens.”

In addition, two varsity men rowers from Lake Stevens Rowing Club participated at the 2012 Juniors National Team Sculling Development Camp. Attending this camp is by invitation only and limited to 30 athletes. The camp was held in Seattle from June 23 to July 14.

Nick Johnston of Mill Creek and Griffin Siadak of Lake Stevens have been prominent members of the Lake Stevens Rowing Club Junior crew for more than two years.

Johnston won the C Finals at the National Youth Regatta in the double sculls on June 3, 2012.

Siadak won the 2011 Northwest Regional Championship in the lightweight single sculls. Both attended the National Speed Order Camp in Seattle, December 2011 which brought them to the attention of the US Junior National team coaches.
