Professional basketball is coming to Cavelero

August 21, 2012

Cheer up hoop fans, professional basketball is back! The highly charismatic Washington Rampage basketball team has returned this year with a new home court, stronger talent, and a new attitude.

This is the team to watch when it’s time to hit the hardwood in the newest (Pacific Northwest) Division of the American Basketball Association (ABA).

The Washington Rampage Team, in its sophomore season, has experienced a lot of change for such a young organization. Owners moved the team to a much newer, much larger (seats 2,500) venue for the 2012/13 season. The gym, located in the new Cavelero Mid High building is situated between Lake Stevens and Everett.

“This was a great decision for our organization to move our team to the Lake Stevens area. It is a beautiful place, and the fan base at the local High School basketball games is tremendous, so I know that this town loves its basketball,” said owner Kinshasa Martin when asked about the relocation.

The Rampage has also announced the signing of Seattle Native former professional player and Rainier Beach High School standout, Melvin Steward Jr. as GM and Head Coach. Steward brings with him a wealth of experience as a player, NBA D League tryout coach, and sports business owner.

“He makes a fantastic addition to our organization,” says Martin.

This season, The Rampage games should prove to be action packed with fast paced professional ball, celebrity guests, international opponents, and fan appreciation nights.

The season will open on the road with a face off against the Calgary Crush of Canada. The Rampage home opener is Saturday, Nov. 17 against home state rival the Seattle Mountaineers at 7 p.m.
