L.S. offers a fun and festive weekend

Spend your Saturday celebrating the holidays with your neighbors BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR Clear your calendar this Saturday, Dec. 6 and plan to spend the day hanging out right here in Lake Stevens, getting some shopping done, visiting Santa and ending the evening with a great meal all while helping support our community.

Start your day by heading west to Cavelero Mid-High School where you can shop for local unique gifts in a a setting right out of “A Christmas Carol” at the 22nd Annual Dicken’s Fair.

Shopping starts at 10 a.m. sharp and all they ask is that you bring a can of food to donate to the Lake Stevens Food Bank. Spend the next six hours listening to local school choirs and bands and enjoying the company of friends and neighbors, all while getting some holiday shopping done.

Head on down to Lake Stevens’ Downtown Center where the annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Spend the next hour making crafts and sipping hot cider until the arrival of Santa Claus at 6 p.m.

Kids can sit on Santa’s lap and get a head start on their wish list.

Just need to sit, relax and enjoy some of the best Mexican food in Lake Stevens? Well, from 5 to 9 p.m. drop on by Ixtapa where you will be hosted by Lake Stevens Firefighters.

The firefighters are holding their annual “Tips for Firefighters”. The funds raised will go towards purchasing Christmas presents for deserving children in our community.

Over the past four years, Lake Stevens Fire has raised over $8,000 and helped provide Christmas for over 200 children.

A fire engine and medic unit will be available in the Ixtapa parking lot to collect donations of unwrapped children’s gifts throughout the event.

All donations will go directly back into the Lake Stevens community.
